Here’s a thoughtful and challenging piece by Rick Wormeli on “redos and retakes.”  Couple of gems from the video:

  • So one of your students has “fallen into the pit.”  Will you stand at the rim and wave at that kid, or will you have to courage to jump in?
  • “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.”  How about giving the horse a salt lick to make it thirsty?
  • Be willing to tell kids, “You are not allowed to give up on yourself.”
  • Young people can be immature.  Don’t let their immaturity dictate the level to which they will rise; let your maturity dictate that level.
